Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has told CVG that Microsoft’s policies regarding Xbox One’s online and software authorization requirements are definitive for now.
This may be bad news for those Xbox One fans who were hoping for a change in stance before the launch of the console. This news follows confirmation from Microsoft that Xbox fans in some countries will not be able to use Xbox One in the near future. Ouch!
“We wanted to set our definitive policy in black and white terms on Xbox Wire, which we did last week. That’s our policy,” said Spencer. However, he also added that the Xbox One will evolve over time, but that doesn’t mean that Microsoft will change its stance on the online and pre-owned policies.
“We wanted to set our policy as it is for Xbox One in clear terms so that there wasn’t ambiguity in what our stance was. That was our intent.”
Do you think Microsoft will eventually listen to consumers? Let us know!
