For those who are none too thrilled about Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi has revealed that the team is already working on a new Ninja Gaiden title that will be more ‘traditional’ and appealing to long-time fans of the series.
Acknowledging the mixed response from audiences during a video chat with Keiji Inafune, translated by Siliconera, Hayashi shared: “As we’ve talked about Yaiba, there have been some Ninja Gaidenfans who have said Yaiba’s not the hardcore action game that they’re looking for. Honestly, they’re a little hesitant about the game.”
Hayashi then went on to explain that unlike what was experienced with Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, Team Ninja has a far different, more traditional approach that will be seen in an upcoming title. Likening the numerous Ninja Gaiden releases to a full course meal of entrees that complement each other, he stated:
“To those people I say this: Team Ninja is thinking of the next Ninja Gaiden. For example, if the games were food, the Ninja Gaiden series would be a rich meaty entree and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Zwould be dessert. Every course of the meal would be in the same Ninja Gaiden world, but gamers will experience different kinds of play. That’s how Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will be different.”
