With Call of Duty: Ghosts rumored to be announced on May 1, more information about the game seems to leak on a daily basis. First, we got the unofficial box art and release date, and now we have information that Call of Duty: Ghosts will utilize a new game engine.
Here is the description, as shown on the retailer site Tesco:
The franchise that has defined a generation of gaming is set to raise the bar once again with the all-new Call of Duty®: Ghosts. Published by Activision and developed by Infinity Ward, the studio that created the original Call of Duty and the seminal Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® series, Call of Duty: Ghosts ushers in the next generation of the franchise, delivering a riveting all-new gameplay experience built on an entirely new story, setting and cast, all powered by a new next-generation Call of Duty engine.
All Activision has to do now is just say that the damn thing exists. Ever since Call of Duty 4, each Call of Duty game has used the same engine, albeit somewhat upgraded for every iteration. Maybe this could sway consumers to reignite their interest in the Call of Duty franchise.
