“Sources” close to Sony have revealed to MCV that the PlayStation’s UK team is trying to secure more PS4 consoles after admitting that it had underestimated the console’s popularity.
As a result, the number of units being readied to be shifted to the UK aren’t likely to satisfy demand and it is predicted that the console will be in shortage for up to four months. It should be noted that pre-orders for the PS4 have already surpassed expectations so an initial shortage isn’t going to be surprising. But how long the shortage lasts will depend on a number of factors including procurement and actual demand after launch.
That being said, a shortage is still worrisome for Sony as they fear that it may result in people purchasing an Xbox One.
