With E3 right around the corner, Microsoft might be working on something Halo-related. The company has already promised gamers lots of new games and exclusives during the second phase of it’s two-step Xbox reveal process, so this might not come as much of a surprise to many.

For those of us expecting a new Halo game, the good news is that a little bit of activity has been detected in that department. Fusible reports that Microsoft has claimed several domain names which point towards a new game called “Halo: Spartan Assault.” The domains were privately registered through the brand protection company MarkMonitor.

The newest registrations include: HaloSpartanAssault.com and HaloSpartanAssault.net. It should be noted that Microsoft is a known MarkMonitor client, a company through which they also registered other Halo domains, such as, Halo 7, Halo 8, and Halo 9.

So where does “Spartan Assault” come from? Back in 2009, a Halo fan wrote a fan fiction piece with that title. But it could very well be that following recent issues with the Xbox One domain names, Microsoft decided to protect itself and avoid having to take action in court.
