It has happened, Grand Theft Auto 5 has hit the $1 billion mark in sales.
Take-Two Interactive have just announced that Grand Theft Auto V, the critically acclaimed latest release from the iconic interactive entertainment series, has achieved worldwide retail sales of more than $1 billion during its first three days on sale.
Take Two believe this means that Grand Theft Auto V is the fastest that any entertainment property, including video games and feature films, has reached this huge milestone. This means that it’s already set two records, and is heading for a third.
Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two said:
“Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment. We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto V.”
Grand Theft Auto 5 was one hell of a release, people were fired, promotional bags were claimed and Peter Molyneux was butt-hurt.
