With both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One being powered by AMD hardware, it is apparently going to be easier for the company to port games over onto the PC platform.
AMD VP Matt Skynner explained how the porting process would be made simpler for them:
Because it’s our architecture there, it’s easier to port the games. And because they’re first developed on our hardware, there should be a performance advantage… They should run better on our hardware.
As AMD alone are powering the next-gen consoles, it really does put them in a unique position. They will have the advantages that other companies, such as Nvidia, do not. Being able to port games easily will make them more attractive to PC gamers, who are looking for every bit of extra performance.
They do seem to have all bases covered here. Let’s see what the future holds for AMD and its performance boost.
