Project CARS is officially coming to next-gen consoles. The team at Slightly Mad has confirmed the community-funded game is now slated to be released on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the new Steam OS on top of the originally planned platforms; PC and Wii U. The team’s head of studio Ian Bell commented:
“Project CARS has always lead the pack in terms of insane detail. Whether that’s graphically in the craftsmanship of our cars and tracks, technically in the way we’ve approached weather and time of day, or emotionally in how each car feels and responds to your touch. These powerful new platforms allow us therefore to not compromise on the quality of our vision and ultimately that means players are going to experience something truly breathtaking when they get behind the wheel.”The studio expressed earlier interest this year in bringing the game to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and to be frank it comes as no surprise. While PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ports were in planning stages, the team opted to scrap the platforms, instead focusing on the technical superiority of next-generation hardware. The game looks absolutely stunning, and we’ve included some gameplay footage up top as a reminder. Project CARS is scheduled to be released in Autumn 2014. We’ll have more information on the game as soon as we hear more.
