At this year’s GDC, Metal Gear franchise director and gaming icon Hideo Kojima demoed their vaunted FOX Engine during his panel. Needless to say, it was a feast for the eyes.
Shown below is how a side-by-side comparison of howreal world objects would look using the FOX Engine; and honestly, it is a bit hard to differentiate the CGI from the real thing.
Not only that, we get to see how character models are translated to the FOX Engine, and we even get to see some amazing day and night effects.
The FOX Engine is, of course, the same engine powering Metal Gear Solid 5, which even now absolutely looks stunning. I gather what we’ve seen so far can’t be achieved with current-gen consoles, but that would mean PS3 and Xbox 360 users will get a rude awakening once they see MGS5 running on their machines.
Based on what you’ve seen so far, which engine is better: Kojima’s FOX Engine, Epic’s Unreal Engine 4 or Crytek’s CryENGINE 3?
