Undoubtedly, one of 2012′s biggest stories in gaming was the whole fiasco that was 38 Studios and their game, Kindgoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
Oddly enough, it’s not the actual game where this whole issue started but from the game’s development house and the government of Rhode Island.
Long story short, the game didn’t do as well as expected, and 38 Studios amassed a ton of debt in the process. After the dust has settled, the state of Rhode Island now owns the Amalur IP and the studio was shuttered down…or at least that’s what we thought.
Now, 38 Studios’ website is “live” once more. While no actual game or press statement has been released, there is this sentence splashed on the center that might mean the studio is gearing for a relaunch.
Please Excuse the Mess, We’re Moving In
updatestags: 38studios, excuse the mess, relaunchDoes this mean a new Amalur game is in the works or that we’ll see 38 Studios rise once more? We can’t say for now. Could Rhode Island themselves have started this to drum up hype for a sequel to Reckoning or might someone have purchased the domain and just messing with people?Hopefully, all these questions and more will be answered soon. Needless to say, we’ll be digging more info about it and will keep everyone posted.
