Casey Hudson, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and the Mass Effect series executive producer, is working on Electronic Arts’ upcoming Star Wars games, President of EA Labels Frank Gibeau told CVG today.
When asked if the Star Wars projects would be a resource issue for the company with its bevy of games, Gibeau said, “Yeah it is – if you want to do something you’ve got to do it right. Our most talented guys, people like Casey Hudson, are working on that. So these decisions are more talent-driven than hitting a certain window with a new IP. You want to get it early in the cycle so you can sequel it, hopefully, but you need the right people on your projects.”
In July, EA announced that a new IP was in development at BioWare Edmonton, which is where Hudson is based. The team working on it is the “core team” that worked on Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Hudson said at the time. The reveal came just 2 months after EA announced its exclusive deal with Disney to developer Star Wars games.
The BioWare Edmonton jobs page is looking for several applicants to work on “a new IP, this will influence the next generation of world class narrative driven games.”
