An Easter egg was apparently left inside Uncharted 3, which revealed Naughty Dog’s upcoming title, The Last of Us. Naughty Dog have confirmed that it was actually left in the game by mistake.
“We screwed up,” said The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann while revealing that his team totally forgot about the hint. The Easter egg was an in-game newspaper which talked about a deadly fungus, directly linking it to the upcoming title. Funnily enough, the newspaper was immediately spotted by gamers and ended up on NeoGAF.
However, NeoGAF users were not sure if the newspaper was referring to an upcoming Naughty Dog title or not because the studio had only just shipped Uncharted 3 at the time.
Game director Bruce Straley said, “These games are so big, right? They’re several hours long. Every single pixel has to be touched. Every animation is created from hand. It’s overwhelming. You can’t look over every detail. So this one little thing in the background, nobody’s thinking about that.”
Don’t underestimate gamers, Straley!
