Phil Fish is apparently stepping away from FEZ 2. Earlier tonight Polytron, the developers of FEZ tweeted this, stating the game’s cancellation.
Phil Fish, who has now closed his twitter account posted this:

“Yep. I’m done.”
While no official reason was given for the cancellation it’s relatively safe to assume it’s something to do with the recent episode of GameTrailer’s Invisible Walls. Writer Marcus Beer explained how great it is to see indie support, sighting the Xbox One indie development opportunities. He focused on Jonathan Blow and Fish, who “decided to go bananas and bitch and moan” about press enquires.
Beer is quoted as saying:
“You were the guys who did Indie Game: the Movie. And some of you looked relatively normal in it, one of you looked like a total tosspot in it. But you can’t have it both ways. You’re successful game designers — you’re ‘indie’ game designers — hurrah, good for you, you fucking hipsters.”
And Phil, apparently tweeted:
“I fucking hate this industry” and “I’m done. Fez 2 is canceled. Goodbye.”
This was recently posted on Polytron:
“Fez 2 is cancelled. I am done. I take the money and I run. This is as much as I can stomach. This isn’t the result of any one thing, but the end of a long, bloody campaign. You win.”
I think this is pretty upsetting, no one should ever be chased out of doing something they love.
