YouTube flagged Jonathan Blow for posting footage of The Witness

Independent game developer Jonathan Blow revealed in a recent tweet that YouTube flagged him for posting videos of The Witness, a game that he developed. The tweet, displayed below, also reveals that YouTube believed that the footage was owned by Sony.
According to copyright lawyers, uploading any type of footage is a violation of copyright. However, there are countless developers within the industry that don’t have any issue with gamers uploading their recorded game footage, which is causing quite an uproar when YouTube continues to flag their users for sharing such content.
As noted by many users within the Reddit thread regarding the recent flag against Blow, the real issue is found in the poor quality methods that YouTube is using to scan for illegal content on its site. Until YouTube improves this method, inappropriate and unnecessary flagging of gaming footage is likely to continue.
