Take-Two on social and mobile gaming: “That’s not what we do”

Don’t expect Take-Two to abandon creating core console games any time soon. Speaking at the BMO Capital Markets Technology and Digital Media Conference, president Karl Slatoff said Take-Two routinely re-invests back into its intellectual properties from capital earned. “First and foremost, the best use of our capital is to invest in what we do best,” Slatoff said. “And what we do best is to engage in developing core games that we think could become hit products and ultimately long-term value […]

Take-Two boss feels Xbox One and PS4 will outsell last gen consoles within 5 years

With the PS4 and Xbox One recently released, a certain fervor has gripped the gaming industry. Delight, enthusiasm, disappointment, and sometimes anger are all facets with which we can use to describe console launches. With the PlayStation 4 selling over 2.1 million consoles to date since its launch less than 3 weeks ago and the Xbox One also hitting a tremendous stride in sales, it looks as though things are quite encouraging for the two console giants. Take-Two Interactive CEO […]

Take-Two confirmed during its Q2 2014 fiscal earnings call that the developer has  “more than 10 unique titles planned for next-generation consoles, including multiple releases slated for fiscal 2015.” Fiscal 2015 runs from April 2014 to March 2015, so we could be getting some of these titles as early as mid next year. According to Take-Two, there aren’t any “meaningful differences” between the development costs associated with current-gen and next-gen titles. An earnings call for Take-Two would be incomplete without the mention […]

Dillinger said that the offer was “offensively low.” Speaking to TMZ, the rapper said that the action he’s taking is about “respecting an artist’s work” and that “Rockstar didn’t do that here” so he “can’t let them get away with it.” The songs in question are C-Walk and Nothin’ But the Cavi Hit, which Dillinger […]

The stealth action game was announced in 2007 during a Sony press conference. Since then, we’ve heard nothing but the occasional rumor and the news in July that Rockstar renewed the […]

HungoverX turned out to be a mini-game for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

HungoverX turned out to be a mini-game for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

Yesterday, we reported on an admittedly weird domain registration by Take-Two for HungoverX.com. Originally, I thought it would have something to do with Grand Theft Auto V, but holy hell was I mistaken. It turns out that the URL now leads to a mini-game that’s related to The Bureau: XCOM Declassified. Players are tasked with guiding a hungover Bill Carter through a day at the office. Doesn’t sound like much fun for Carter. You can play the browser-based game now […]

Take-Two registers Hungover X domain

According to a report by Fusible, Take-Two privately registered the domain name HungoverX.com. Whois.com, however, reveals that Take-Two is, indeed, the owner of the domain. The domain servers for the site have been transferred to Take-Two’s, though the domain doesn’t really go anywhere. This could be related to Take-Two’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto V, but it could also be an entirely different project. We’ll undoubtedly learn more as time goes on, so it won’t be the last time you hear […]

Take-Two hints at Red Dead Redemption sequel, everybody wets themselves

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has just dropped a bomb shell, almost (but not completely) confirming a Red Dead Redemption sequel. He was speaking at Take-Two’s Q1 FY14 earnings results and he said: “Our goal is to try to create permanent franchises, that’s the unique goal in the industry. Our competitors do not see it that way. Our competitors’ view is that our franchise will have a certain life, and at the end of that life, you move onto the next thing, […]

The game’s DLC was a success also, with both The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony being considered as great expansions that set a new standard for future […]

Report: Marketing budget for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified significantly cut due to analyst projections

In a note to investors today, Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz estimated that 2K Marin’s upcoming title, The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, won’t sell more than 250,000 copies through the end of the calendar year in the United States. According to public relation sources for VGRevolution, Take-Two Interactive responded by significantly cutting the marketing budget for the game, which includes cuts in promotions, editorial reviews, and advertising. With the years in stasis The Bureau: XCOM Declassified was in, it’s no […]
