Sony says PS4/Vita bundle is not “out of the question”
Authored by Mack Ashworth
Sony are constantly reminding us of the enhanced relationship that the PS4 and Vita have, and that they are perfect together. Putting them in a one-box bundle just seems like it would make sense.
In an interview with VG247, Sony’s MD Fergal Gara stated that “it’s not out of the question that we can’t put [the PS4 and Vita] together”. He then went on to fully discuss what could potentially happen in the future regarding a bundle, and the success of both consoles:
… Retail in the UK’s incredibly flexible in putting together what you call soft bundles. That’s by no means out of the question, that we can offer the consumer a package including Vita and PS4, even round launch. Now that we have a date on the table, and now that we have reasonably clear visibility on volume, our conversations with retailers are far more focused on tangibles. These are the sort of details we need to get into now.
But do we see Vita gaining further strength on the back of PS4? Absolutely. And the likely cost of the two together is, OK, significant, but shapes up well competitively and shapes up well versus, say, the start-point on PS3. We’re excited about that.
Personally, I was expecting a PS4/Vita bundle to be announced at gamescom 2013. It just seemed like the sensible thing to do, as the PlayStation Vita now has an increased demand. All we need, is a good deal for a good excuse to pick one up.
What do you guys think? Are any of you picking up a PlayStation 4 and, if you are, would you consider picking up a Vita too at a cheaper price?
