Rumor: Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will run at 720p
Authored by Williams Pelegrin
With the Xbox One and PlayStation almost upon us, a large number of people now have the expectation that, with the added horsepower, games would be able to run at 1080p. If a forum thread is to be believed, however, that expectation will not be met by Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox One.
A NeoGAF forum revealed that the Xbox One version of Call of Duty: Ghosts will run at 720p. Contextually, the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 ran games at 720p, so it is understandable why people are not too happy about this rumor, but how did it come about?
For that, we turn to another thread that discussed the PlayStation 4 version of Call of Duty: Ghosts, which IGN’s Scott Lowe said was running at 1080p. User famousmortimer said that, while he had information about the Xbox One version, he would wait until a second source said it. Apparently, that information is under non-disclosure agreement with Activision, but another user pushed through, saying that the Xbox One version would run at 720p.
Moderator bishopti, who is a former Relic developer who worked on the Turok reboot, messaged famousmortimer to confirm the rumor. Apparently getting an answer, bishopti left the thread.
The P.E. Perspective: This is sure to make some people unhappy, and it will surely rile up the silly Xbox One vs. PS4 argument. Still, with this being nothing more than a rumor, we will have to take all of it with a grain of salt.
