In an e-mail to Polygon, computer manufacturer Origin PC will no longer sell units equipped with AMD’s GPUs. Instead, Origin PC computers will now contain Nvidia graphics cards. According to Origin PC co-founder and CEO Kevin Wasielewski, the main reason for the switch was to make sure customers are satisfied:
Origin PC is dedicated to providing the best experience for our customers and right now that is with Nvidia GPUs. It’s not about brand loyalty or marketing; our loyalty is 100 percent to our customers.
However, according to Origin PC technical support manager Alvaro Moss, Origin PC’s support staff clamored for Nvidia graphics cards, while other reasons included concerns over performance, stability and driver support for AMD graphics cards:
Primarily the overall issues have been stability of the cards, overheating, performance, scaling and the amount of time to receive new drivers on both desktop and mobile GPUs.
+1 for Nvidia, I suppose.
