Lost GTA V characters and ranks cannot be restored, hopes half a million helps you “get back on your feet”

Authored by

In a comment on the Rockstar Newswire, Rockstar have confirmed that anyone who lost characters and ranks during the GTA Online technical difficulties, will not be able to restore them.

The developer said that hopefully the cash stimulus they are giving out later this month will help you “get back on your feet.”

For those asking about their lost characters or rank, those will not be able to be restored so we sincerely hope that this cash stimulus we’re giving out this month will help you get back on your feet or to make your new life in Los Santos & Blaine extra sweet.

The post also revealed that you will be required to install the 1.04 title update which is expected to fix any remaining issues such as purchased vehicles disappearing, they will also be enabling the functionality through which they will provide the cash stimulus.

They give us a few more details about forthcoming GTA Online content such as Heists, saying that “those are indeed in the works.” They hope to be able to provide an update with release timing “soon.”

Have you been affected by the GTA Online issues and did you lose any highly ranked characters during the difficulties? It looks Rockstar are slowly starting to get things back under control but it is a shame that so many had to lose so much. Rockstar just need to hope that there fans are loyal enough to come back to the game despite the technical difficulties.

Thanks, GameSpot!

  1. It’s NOT working for me. Cause with money you can’t buy rank you had. With rank you have acces to better weapons and all. They fucked up and there’s no excuse.
