Illinois State Attorney pushing for economic boycott of GTA V

Illinois State’s Attorney, Jim Glasgow, is urging parents to not purchase copies of Rockstar’s critically acclaimed game, Grand Theft Auto V. This forms part of his push to boycott the game.
Glasgow has met parents of about 50 Mokena Junior High School students, and has shown them a 6-minute clip from the game to make his point. Southtown Star has reported that when the clip was played, many parents either covered their eyes or looked away. Reports also say that the clip showed a woman’s head being blown off, among other gruesome scenes.
“Violence is the No. 1-selling entertainment that we have. Our culture embraces violence. We have to say, ‘We don’t want it anymore,’” said Glasgow.
While he doesn’t plan on taking any legal action, Glasgow has promised that he’ll campaign for an economic boycott of the game.
