Sony Computer Entertainment Australia and Polyphony Digital Inc have announced in a press release today that the famous Mount Panorama Motor Racing Circuit, Bathurst, will be making its debut in Gran Turismo 6 for the first time in the franchises history.
The circuit is known worldwide for the various challenges that the circuit provides as well as some of the famous events such as the Bathurst 12 Hour and the Bathurst 1000km races to name a few. Bathurst has been included in many different games before, including the “challenger” to Gran Turismo 6, the Forza Motorsport franchise. It is a very demanding track which has got slightly easier over the years but it still remains as challenging as ever.
The Australian track will be recreated in-game to mirror its real life counterpart. The creator of Gran Turismo and president of Polyphony Digital Inc, Kazunori Yamauchi, has said that it is “one of the toughest tracks out there.”
Gran Turismo 6 is currently set for a release of December 6th on the PlayStation 3 exclusively, with no plans to port the game to consoles other than the possibility of the PlayStation 4.
