EA closes North Carolina studio — Report
Authored by Zarmena Khan
The Escapist magazine has reported that Electronic Arts has made the decision to shut down one of its studios in North Carolina. The news has come from an “anonymous source” and hence, can only be treated as a rumor until EA makes an official statement.
The studio in question mainly focuses on free-to-play mobile games. They’ve previously worked on Monopoly Hotels, which was released for iOS devices in 2011.
The games industry has had a grim year in terms of redundancies and layoffs, and if this report is true, add a few more job losses to the 3,112+ that have already occurred this year. However, The Escapist magazine’s “anonymous source” has also said that most of the staff will be relocated within EA.
