E3 2013: Failing a QTE in RYSE won’t result in failure
Authored by Patrick Day-Childs
I don’t know why video game developers think we don’t actually enjoy playing games; but this is perhaps the biggest blunder of a generation…
Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, Metro: Last Light these all punish us for failing, they really push us when we make a mistake. But Ryse? Ryse does the opposite.
If you watched Microsoft’s E3 press conference, then no doubt you saw Ryse, and hopefully you were impressed, a true cinematic beauty of a game. But it’s going to lack any kind of challenge, something that I was really looking forward to.
According to Kotaku, if you hit the wrong button during a kill on Ryse – or no buttons at all you’ll still perform the kill. A Crytek representative at E3 told Kotaku it’s because,
“We don’t want the player to feel frustrated.”
This is something that will hopefully change before the game is released, because that is just stupid.
