Winners of E3 Game Critics Awards announced, Titanfall sets record with 6 awards

In the 16 year history of the Game Critics Awards, Titanfall is the first game to have won six awards. No other game this year received more than one award, but Titanfall emerged victorious in each category that it was nominated in, including Best of Show. Apart from software, Oculus Rift won the best hardware/peripheral award. Full list of winners can be found below: Best of Show – Titanfall (Respawn Games/Electronic Arts) Best Original Game – Titanfall (Respawn Games/Electronic Arts) [...]

Conan O’Brien goes to E3, hilarity ensues

Conan O’Brien goes to E3, hilarity ensues

Conan O’Brien is a popular, late-night television host on TBS. One of his more “famous” segments is called “Clueless Gamer,” where he fumbles his way through a game (Injustice, Tomb Raider, RE 6) while talking about it with one of his producers. Continuing his gaming trend, Conan went to E3 2013 this past month. In the video Conan got to meet with each of the big three  (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo) and talk to them about their upcoming consoles/games. There’s some good bits in [...]

Need For Speed: Rivals E3 hands-on preview: The Hot Pursuit DLC that wasn’t

Need For Speed: Rivals E3 hands-on preview: The Hot Pursuit DLC that wasn’t

Chris Anderson here once again; last week I headed to E3 in LA to play and record three new EA games for Pixel Enemy. One of those was Need for Speed: Rivals, the latest installment in the driving series. Before I talk about that let me digress for awhile. Do you guys remember when games didn’t have yearly sequels? When the next series was 3-4 years away and we didn’t have 20 dubstep trailers and knew absolutely everything about the [...]

Nintendo feels “no pressure” from Sony and Microsoft, Fils-Aime confident about the future

Nintendo feels “no pressure” from Sony and Microsoft, Fils-Aime confident about the future

Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, spoke to Kotaku about the Wii U’s future, focusing particularly on the new competition posed by the next-gen Xbox One and PlayStation 4. With the attention during E3 mainly given to Sony’s PS4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, the Nintendo announcements were left behind in the dust. However, quickly took to explaining that this “E3 narrative” is exactly the same as it was in 2006, with the Wii seemingly overshadowed but ultimately garnering more [...]

Fallout 4 secretly shown at E3, setting, release date, and more leaked — Rumour

Fallout 4 secretly shown at E3, setting, release date, and more leaked — Rumour

While most of us thought that Bethesda’s E3 announcements comprised of The Elder Scrolls Online, Wolfenstein: The New Order, The Evil Within, and nothing more; it has now been leaked that another Bethesda game was shown off at E3… in secret! The leaker, who apparently attended a 45-minute Bethesda presentation behind closed doors, has shared various bits of information about the secret title, which we are assured is Fallout 4.  The anonymous source has relayed these pieces of info: Fallout 4 has been in development [...]

Battlefield 4 hands-on: This is the Battlefield game you’ve been waiting for

Battlefield 4 hands-on: This is the Battlefield game you’ve been waiting for

This is Chris Anderson, formerly of Don’t Revive Me Bro and last week I had the extreme honor to represent Pixel Enemy at E3 in L.A. I was flown out to play Battlefield 4 hands-on and record exclusive gameplay for PE, which you can see above. The game was set-up as a 66 player multiplayer PC LAN (64 players and 2 commanders). We got situated, checked out the kits, and dropped into the game. As you’ve seen from the trailers, Battlefield 4 looks incredible. From the water, [...]

Xbox One games at E3 running on Windows PCs with Nvidia GTX GPUs, PS4 running on PS4 devkits

Xbox One games at E3 running on Windows PCs with Nvidia GTX GPUs, PS4 running on PS4 devkits

It doesn’t seem like Microsoft can catch a break with this PR nightmare they seem to be going through. Adding more fuel to the fire is the recent posting of photos that show Xbox One games at E3 were running on PCs with Windows 7 and Nvidia GTX 700-series graphics cards. It’s not unheard of to show console games running in a virtual machine on a more powerful PC, but what is interesting is that those machines weren’t using the [...]

E3 2013: Failing a QTE in RYSE won’t result in failure

E3 2013: Failing a QTE in RYSE won’t result in failure

I don’t know why video game developers think we don’t actually enjoy playing games; but this is perhaps the biggest blunder of a generation… Heavy Rain, The Last of Us, Metro: Last Light these all punish us for failing, they really push us when we make a mistake. But Ryse? Ryse does the opposite. If you watched Microsoft’s E3 press conference, then no doubt you saw Ryse, and hopefully you were impressed, a true cinematic beauty of a game. But it’s [...]

The Witcher 3 developers are strictly anti-DRM, and don’t like being guilty-by-association

The Witcher 3 developers are strictly anti-DRM, and don’t like being guilty-by-association

It must feel odd for developers when their game is shown off at E3 on a console from a company that’s taking the exact opposite stance on DRM than they are. We’re talking about The Witcher 3 developers, CD Projekt Red, and Microsoft. CD Projekt Red is very anti-DRM, and that’s one of the reasons that they have a high approval rate among gamers. However, after starring at Microsoft’s E3 event with The Witcher 3, the developer wasn’t pleased with [...]

E3 2013 marred by various reports of theft

E3 2013 marred by various reports of theft

Various incidents of thefts that occurred during E3 were reported this week, but ESA firmly believes that their security team did an excellent job at preventing more of them from happening. The indie team behind the upcoming Luftrausers, Vlambeer, had a bag stolen that contained a Vita dev kit, Vita, laptop, two iPads, and a Kindle Fire. Luftrausers code went with the items. Similarly, Polygon had a backpack with camera equipment stolen. Vlambeer co-founder Rami Ismail said, “Apparently there had been quite [...]

E3 2013: We grade each press conference and declare a “winner”

E3 2013: We grade each press conference and declare a “winner”

Now that E3 is officially over, we thought it would be best if we acknowledge how each company did in their presser, what we thought of each and of course, who we think “won” E3. Detailed and graded below are each of the staff members’ grades, analyses and their pick on who walked away from E3 as the victor. So, enough chit-chat, read on below on what the Pixel Enemy staff thought of each conference. Electronic Arts (EA): Andrew Esposito: Man, [...]

Mock Xbox One used game instructional video

Mock Xbox One used game instructional video

Most of you will remember the funny PlayStation 4 used game instructional video that Sony uploaded this week. If you haven’t watched it yet, then click here. A YouTube user YongYea has come up with his own version of an Xbox One used game instructional video, which you can see above. But the point of this post isn’t just to share a funny video, it’s also to highlight the underlying message. We’ve said countless times that Microsoft’s policies may [...]

E3 2013: New Batman: Arkham Origins shows an unexpected villain – Anarky

E3 2013: New Batman: Arkham Origins shows an unexpected villain – Anarky

Anarky is a relatively new hero from ’89, to be honest I wasn’t expecting him to appear in an Arkham game at any point. Though he’s had a little bit of a remodelling. Official PlayStation Magazine released these images today, which show us that Anarky will appear in Batman: Arkham Origins. We already knew about Bane and Black Mask but it’s cool to see them again anyway. Check out the four new pictures below.

E3 2013: “Our ears are open on self-publishing,” says Microsoft’s Phil Spencer

E3 2013: “Our ears are open on self-publishing,” says Microsoft’s Phil Spencer

If there’s ever a reason indie developers can point to as to why their titles might not show up on the Xbox 360 and Xbox One, it’s because they can’t self-publish their games on the console. In an interview with Eurogamer, Microsoft Game Studios vice president Phil Spencer addressed this, and said that there might be hope in the horizon: …what we’ve said is we don’t have a self-publishing system in place. But what we do look at: we support the [...]

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida wants more Demon’s Souls

Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida wants more Demon’s Souls

Sony head of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida loves From Software’s Demon’s Souls, and he would like to see more of the game on PlayStation platforms. In an interview with Polygon, Shuhei said, “I love the team, I love the game and yeah, I’d really like to see more. But that’s all that I will say.” Demon’s Souls was published by Sony in Japan, but the company refused to release it elsewhere. Atlus and Namco Bandai swooped in and published the [...]

E3 2013: EA says that the online pass “is staying dead”

E3 2013: EA says that the online pass “is staying dead”

We reported back in May that EA was eliminating their Online Pass program. Well today, gamers can rest assured that the Online Pass will not be coming back anytime soon. Electronic Arts’ President of EA Labels Frank Gibeau talked to Joystiq about the online pass. “It’s dead, it’s dead, it’s deep-sixed, it’s at the bottom of the Mariana Trench.” “We’re not crafting a strategy to bring the Online Pass back, you will not need to input codes to unlock your game, [...]

FEZ 2 is coming, gets a teaser trailer

FEZ 2 is coming, gets a teaser trailer

A teaser trailer titled “Horizon” (because it was showed off at the Horizon Indie Game Festival) has just been released on the Polytron Corporation’s website, and Facebook. At the end of the trailer we can clearly see that the game is FEZ II.  FEZ is a 2D/3D puzzle-platformer that released last year for the Xbox 360. It has since come out for the PC as well. FEZ was created by boisterous game developer, Phil Fish. Fish, along with a few other indie-game developers were [...]

E3 2013: Rainbow Six: Patriots is moving to next-gen

E3 2013: Rainbow Six: Patriots is moving to next-gen

Rainbow Six: Patriots was originally announced for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. But it’s been pushed to the next-generation of consoles. Speaking to IGN Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key said. “Rainbow 6 got caught in the transition of going to next-gen and essentially we’re figuring out ‘well, are we making the right game for the right hardware systems?’ And you know, on Watch Dogs, the guys have been working on that game and it’s always been a [...]

E3 2013: List of games confirmed for the PlayStation 4

E3 2013: List of games confirmed for the PlayStation 4

Before we share the list of titles heading to the PS4, we’d like readers to note that while Sony has less exclusives lined up than Microsoft, the PS4 actually has at least twenty more games coming to PS4 than the Xbox One. Additionally, some of the games that are PS4 non-exclusives aren’t available on Xbox One. The reason they’re not Sony exclusives is because these games are available on the PC as well. Exclusives: Basement Crawl Driveclub Infamous: Second Son [...]
