UPDATE 3: EA has issued a response to us and stated, “EA does not comment on rumours, but we will be sure to update you once the release date is available.” Also of note, the October 29 date has been removed in the post and now just reads:

Only in Battlefield can players go through a building instead of around it, eject from a jet and take out the enemy mid-free fall, or flip a tank. DICE, a studio of Electronic Arts, announced that Battlefield 4 is coming to the Xbox 360.

So, I gather this adds more evidence to this “rumor,” eh? (Thanks for the post update ping, BattleChatter!)

UPDATE 2: As Videogamer states, the person who penned the BF4 piece is Xbox.com Games Editor Denny Atkin, the likelihood of this “rumor” being real has skyrocketed a bit unless Microsoft likes pulling April Fool’s Day pranks on their official website.

UPDATE: Until we hear an official word from EA, we’re treating this one as a rumor for now, folks.

While we already ran one “rumored” release date for Battlefield 4 which was listed by online UK retailer Zavvi, it seems we now know the official release date for DICE’s upcoming shooter!

Over on the official Xbox forums, they did a write-up for Battlefield 4, which contains this little juicy info:

Only in Battlefield can players go through a building instead of around it, eject from a jet and take out the enemy mid-free fall, or flip a tank. DICE, a studio of Electronic Arts, announced that Battlefield 4 will arrive on the Xbox 360 on October 29, 2013.

Unfortunately for the Xbox blog poster “editer” (which we learn is Xbox.com Games Editor Denny Atkin), DICE and EA has NOT announced Battlefield 4′s release date just yet.

While we could file this one under the “rumor” category, chances are this is the real deal. It is the last week of October, the same time when EA normally unleashes their big guns for the holiday, and it’s a Tuesday, too.

Even if this just outs the Xbox 360′s release date, chances are this is also the release date for the PC and PS3 versions. For the PS4 — and we presume Xbox 720 — versions, we’ll have to wait and see when the official release dates of these next-gen consoles will be.

We’ve contacted EA for an official statement on this leak and will update once we hear back from them.

So, are you all set to take to the battlefield this coming October 29?

Thanks, Antal120
