Earlier today, Ubisoft released the first-ever gameplay footage for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag. Seeing as we know that the game will be out on both current-gen and next-gen platforms, we were a bit curious as to where the footage came from (IE: PC, PS4 or current-gen).

Fortunately for you guys, that mystery is now solved…at least partially. In an email to Stone Chin, Ubisoft PR, we asked (via email) what platform did the trailer originate from and his answer was a simple, “The footage was from the PC.”

Now, that could either be, a PC modeled after current-gen hardware or one that’s set to the specs of the PS4 and Xbox 720. Unfortunately, that’s all we know so far.

While Assassin’s Creed trailers almost always look snazzy, this one didn’t really jump at us with next-gen visuals. So, I assume it must be using the current-gen consoles as a comparison point. Does this mean Ubisoft doesn’t have any PS4 footage of the game just yet? Maybe, or maybe not. What we do know is what we’ve seen so far is on par with what we’ve seen previously from the PS3 and Xbox 720 versions of the franchise.

If you thought the gameplay trailer wasn’t as sexy as you thought it would be, then take solace in the fact that it might not be running on next-gen specs just yet. We can’t say for sure though, but that’s something to ponder over, right?

Did you like Assassin’s Creed 4′s gameplay trailer or did it look “too current-gen” for your tastes? Sound off in the comments and let us know.
