Apple allegedly paid EA to delay Android release of Plants vs. Zombies 2, Apple denies claims

According to a report on Giant Bomb, it seems that Apple and Electronic Arts had some sort of deal that involved delaying the Android release of Plants vs. Zombies 2.
During an internal town hall meeting held for EA, EA Labels president Frank Gibeau revealed the payment made by Apple:
Apple gave us a truckload of money to delay the Android version [of Plants vs Zombies 2].
Giant Bomb was able to confirm the quote with several sources who watched the presentation. This is odd, seeing as Plants vs. Zombies 2 is available for both iOS and Android in China, with the Android version will be released elsewhere sometime this fall.
Apple responded to the report, saying that it is “not true” and that no money was exchanged between Apple and EA. Even if it was true, which it probably was, this isn’t as insane as it seems. These type of deals are commonplace in the video game industry, and so this could just have been a co-marketing deal.
